On September 24, 2016, Walter Hines Page High School crowned the 2016-2017 Pirate Queen and Homecoming Queen. During half-time at the varsity football game against East Forsyth last Friday, the newest Pirate and  Homecoming queens were announced. Cameron Kiser, class of 2017, was announced as the Pirate Queen. When we asked her about her reaction to this announcement she said, “Thank you so much to my peers, it was truly an honor. It sent a wave of happiness through my body. It was incredible looking up at the student section all rooting for me.” Cameron is truly an inspiring member of the pirate family and her happiness radiates through the hallways. Machara Street, class of 2017, was named the 2016-2017 Homecoming Queen. When we asked Machara about her crowning as Queen she replied, “Being Homecoming Queen is not only an honor, but a blessing. I never expected this and I’m more than grateful to have amazing peers who think of me when important things like this come up. My love for the class of 2017 will never fade, I truly cherish you all!” The beautiful Machara is an amazing addition to our community and is cherished by many. A big congratulations to both wonderful ladies on being crowned as the 2016-2017 Pirate Queen and Homecoming Queen!
