Pirates Benefit From Junior Achievement Program

The Junior Achievement program is an organization in Greensboro that partners with businesses and schools to help teach students workforce development, career readiness, and financial literacy. For the past couple of years Page’s Career Development Coordinator, Latasha Yancey has worked with the Junior Achievement program to have its students job shadow at Lincoln Financial Group for a five-week program. All students in the program must be in the 11th grade. The requirements needed to join this program include filling out an application, have teacher and parent permission, less than three absences, at least a C in all classes, and to be able to maintain those grades and attendance while in the program. The benefits for juniors to become involved with this program is to have an exposure to various career choices within a large company, real work experience, build workforce skills, meet new people, develop problem solving, critical thinking, and team building skills.
