Pirates Soccer Just rolling by…

The Page women’s varsity soccer team started the season of HOT, as they won their first four games against the Northwest Guilford Vikings, the Western Alamance Warriors, the Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans and the Ragsdale Tigers. The head coach, James Pielow was asked how he thought the team was doing compared to last year he said, “We can’t tell just yet. Were at a point where we have our peaks one game and do not look as well the next.  We have been trying to “Play Eighty,’’ we haven’t achieved it yet but we have gotten close, the closest we got was the Wesleyan game where we played seventy five. I believe we will get it later in the season.” The team is lead by Tatum Neff goals. The Pirates varsity woman’s soccer team was on a roll with seven wins straight until their eighth game against the Southwest Cowboys. The game was played at Southwest on March 17th. It was a competitive game as it ended in a 1-0 win for the Cowboys. It was disappointing loss for the Pirates as this ended their seven game winning streak. Assistant coach Trevor Chase, who was the only coach for this game said, “The girls started out flat and the other team scored in the first 3 minutes, but after that the girls worked really hard and dominated the rest of the game. We did have some of the starters out for the New York trip; that also played a role in us loosing. Apart from that we played seventy seven out of the “Play Eighty” which is now the closest we have gotten to playing eighty.” The Pirates have won their last three games against the Ragsdale Tigers, the Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles, and the Dudley Pantherssince the loss, making their record 11-1. Keep it going Pirates!!
