Patel Wins National Honors

Page High School Student, and yearbook staffer, Namita Patel, has finished 2nd in Josten’s National Photography contest in the category of Photo Illustration. Her work, titled “Unconscious,” was one of over 5,000 entries. Her photo will be featured in Josten’s 2017 “Look Book,” and she will be awarded camera accessories.

Namita is a junior at Page and has only been a member of the yearbook staff for one year; still she is “an important member of our program,” states advisor Matthew Rickard. Inside of one year, she has been promoted to editor, and plays a critical role in the creation of the Page High School yearbook: The Buccaneer.

When asked about her photograph Namita replied, “My photograph captures how one is constantly held back by their own subconscious, and that we need to overcome.” Namita says that, “It felt great to win because it was so unexpected, but it gave me a lot more confidence in my photography.”
