Wednesday Wisdom

Mark Twain once said, “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” This is true in all aspects of life. Whether you are at school, at work, or even out doing your own thing, this quote can help you prioritize things in your life. Twain realized that if you want to get ahead you have to start from somewhere. You can not just sit at home and do nothing all day and then expect to be half way done with a project due tomorrow. That is not fun and that is not how life works. Life should be enjoyed and if you fall behind in a class because you wanted to binge watch your favorite television show, you are not going to have fun catching up with your schoolwork. Mark Twain was not saying that you should not enjoy things in life that are not work or school related, and neither am I. He was simply implying that everyone needs to learn how to prioritize the things in their life. Basically, everyone needs to pick the things that they value the most in life and spend the most time doing that thing. This will allow for you to finish the things you have to do and then spend the rest of your time doing whatever interests you. Prioritizing your life lets you get started. If you continue to prioritize the things in your life, then eventually you get ahead. Now it is up to you. What will you do?
