Marksmanship is a sport of precision and discipline. In order to advance one must be on marl in the marksmanship sport. The marksmanship team at Page High school shoots pneumatic air rifles and competes in the sportier class division. The rifles used shoot a small caliber (.177 cal) lead pellet which travels at a speed up to 500 feet per second. 30 shots is the first of the two length meets which is considered an easy day on the range than there’s the 60 shot which can be very grueling. In a 30 shot competition competitors shoot 10 scored shots in each position while the 60 shot courses is doubled. The three levels of qualification in the civilian marksmanship program (CMP): Marksman 200-225, Sharpshooter 226-250, and expert 250-300.

This year the NJROTC marksmanship teams have competed in several meets three which are shoulder to shoulder competitions. All the teams in the division come together and compete side by side. Brian Betts happened to earn eighth place in the regionals while also winning sharpshooter along with Joshua Davis. Congratulations to them both.
