Mr. Wood Retiring After Long Tenure At PHS

Mr. Roger Wood, one of the Assistant principals here at Page High School, is retiring on February 17th. I recently sat down with Mr. Wood and talked to him about his time here at Page. Mr. Wood has been an educator for almost 27 years with 10 of those being here at Page.  Since he has been here, Page has introduced and established the International Baccalaureate program at our school, under Principal Dr. Terry Worrell. Also brought in during his time at Page was heath programs, business classes and CTE classes. His favorite memory of being at Page is the 2010 Men’s Soccer State Championship. Mr. Wood would like to thank all the wonderful and incredibly talented staff here at Page High School that has made his years here so memorable.

Mr. Wood has also worked closely with Mr. Scarbro on facilitating student council, the student government here at Page. I talked to Mr. Scarbro about how Mr. Wood has influenced him and student council and said, “Mr. Wood has been a wonderful administrative asset for Student Council. Since I became the advisor for SCA 9 years ago, Mr. Wood has worked extremely hard to listen to our concerns and help navigate the logistics of Page High. Mr. Wood grew into a master of patience and persistence over the past decade at PHS and the absence of his skill set will be hard replace.” Not only has Mr. Wood been an intricate part of student council, he has influenced Mr. Scarbro and he personally made his welcome to Page as easier. He personally led him on a tour of the school and early on became a mentor for Mr. Scarbro to look up to. Mr. Scarbro said what he will miss the most about him is his laudable steadfastness, resilience, and dedication. Mr. Scarbro said that not having Mr. Wood here next week, for the first time in 9 years, will be a tough pill to swallow.

Mr. Wood plans to take a long vacation to Death Valley National Park with his wife as soon as he retires to get away and enjoy being able to see the stars. We will miss him at Page and we thank you for everything you have done to make Page a better place!
