Robertson’s Reportings: 3/22 – 4/4

Welcome to Robertson’s Reportings! After two years of investigating, President Trump has been cleared from conspiring with Russia and interfering in the 2016 presidential election. Robert Mueller, an American attorney, has been investigating this issue and came up with no evidence that the president colluded with Russia. Many people are still unconvinced of President Trump’s innocence. Actor Vincent D’Onofrio, along many other Hollywood stars, have spoken up. D’Onofrio said, “Just ignore the nonsense,” after the report that proved nothing against the president.

Former Vice President Joe Biden has been accused of making women feel uncomfortable because of contact initiated by him. Some claim that he smelled their hair, and others feel that being hugged or touched on their shoulders is unnecessary. Amy Lappos, a woman that the vice president encountered at a political fundraiser in 2009, said, “…he did grab me by the head. He put his hands around my neck and pulled me in to rub noses with me. When he was pulling me in, I thought he was going to kiss me on the mouth.” All of these women are stating “their truth” as Biden began campaigning for the 2020 presidential election. Lappos told the media that Biden should not run for president and should, instead, support a woman running.

A waterspout appeared on the shores of a Malaysian island and damaged nearly 50 buildings. Several trees were also knocked down, but nobody has been reported to be missing or injured. One resident who saw her roof being blown off said that the wind was deafening. Waterspouts rarely move onto land, but this rare, whirling column of air and water traveled onto land briefly. Now that the storm is over, the island is rebuilding and cleaning debris.

On March 29, President Trump threatened to close the Southern Border because Mexico has “made a fortune off the U.S.” for many years. He warned that all illegal immigration needed to stop because these illegals are costing our country. Many politicians and citizens are in an uproar over this statement while others believe that closing the border could help our country.

Months after a video of two Northwest Guilford students making racist remarks was released, a club was formed by students at the school to unite their community. The club, United Youth of Excellence, meets every two weeks to discuss issues that are not typically discussed in classrooms. There are about 30 students that come to the meetings to express their opinions and listen to the opinions of others. See you next time on Robertson’s Reportings, coverage you can count on!
