Peru’s president Dina Boluarte has called for dialogue after the clashes between protesters and police during nationwide demonstrations that left one person and 30 injured. In a statement she said, “Once again, I call for dialogue, I call on those political leaders to calm down. Have a more honest and objective look at the country; let’s talk.” Her comments came from the clashes in the streets of the capital Lima. This ended in the police clashing with the protesters. This is due to the protesters marching in Lima, where a government state of emergency was ordered. Police forces were seen releasing gas into the streets and cities. The violence and protests continue as the state of emergency has yet to change.
