Page Running to Victory

The Page Pirates ran in the Southwest Guilford Invitational #2 on January 12th. The girls had one fifth place finish (4×400 relay team), 3 fourth place finishes coming from High Jump (Amber Jones), Long Jump (Sydney DeBerry), and 4×800 relay team, and they also added on 2 third place finishes coming from 500 meter dash (Teyanni Ashley) and 1000 meter run (Ellie Verchick). Our boys had 4 fifth place finishes:  1600 meter run (Sam Farrell), 55 meter hurdles (Naseem Alston), high jump (Nathan Hayes), and triple jump (Assad Alston); 3 fourth place finishes: 4×200 relay team, 4×800 relay team, and shot put (Nick Bulter); 2 third place finishes for 500 meter dash (Assad Alston) and high jump (Trey Cousar);  1 second place finish in the 1000 meter run (Ahmed Sinada),and 1 first place finish in 1600 meter run (Freddie Marx).

The Pirates also ran in the mighty explorers challenge #4 on January 17th. The girls did well with 2 third place finishes coming from 55 meter dash (Sydney DeBerry) and 1,600 meter run (Ellie Verchick), 2 second place finishes from 55 meter hurdles (Teyanni Ashley) and high jump (Amber Jones), and an impressive 4 first place finishes from 4×200 meter relay, 4×400 meter relay, 4×800 meter relay, and long jump (Sydney DeBerry). The boys finishes with 6 third place finishes in the 55 meter dash (Isaiah Fisher), 500 meter dash (Jason Willett), 3,200 meter run (Cam Milroy), 55 meter hurdles (Dontavius Monroe), 4×200 meter relay, and high jump (Nathan Hayes), 3 second place finishes from 500 meter dash (Assad Alston), 55 meter hurdles (Naseem Alston), and high jump (Trey Cousar), and they had 4 first place finishes from 1,000 meter run (Ian Shanklin), 4×400 meter relay, 4×800 meter relay, and shot put (Nick Butler). The boys had a crushing performance in this meet with 13 top three finishes! The girls weren’t far behind with 8 top three with half of them being #1 finishes. The Pirates hope to show this domination in the next meet.
