Volleyball Team Setting Up for Victory

Since August, Page’s varsity volleyball team has been competing against other schools on a weekly basis, keeping up a record of 11-8. In recent games against Asheboro, Grimsley, and Northwest, Page went on a losing streak. However, the team started the month right when they dominated Ragsdale on October 1. The Pirates won all three sets in this game. Junior Brynn Klaber was named Player of the Match after hitting four kills, having eleven attack attempts, and serving two aces that automatically gave Page points from a serve. Later in the week, Page played High Point Central and, again, won all three sets. Both of these wins were conference games, so the team has now won four out of their six conference games. On October 8, Page played Southern Alamance and lost all three sets. In their next game, played against Asheboro, the Pirates won all three sets.

The team of 20 consists of a majority of seniors with only two freshmen. The freshmen that made it on the varsity team are Audrey Baird and Mamie Jane Haldeman. Seniors Sierra Brinkley, Ellis Oliver, and Clara Pope are captains, and Junior Ellie Jones is also a captain. Their next game will be played on October 10 at Grimsley High School at 6:00 in a rivalry match. Make sure to support the team over the last few weeks of the volleyball season!
