Recently, Gen Z fashion trends have been a common topic of conversation among many people. Gen Z, born between 1997-2012, have become known for their “side parts and skinny jeans are out” controversy. It’s well known that Gen Z has a unique fashion taste, often consisting of “mom jeans”, oversized clothing, bucket hats, and more.
Gen Z is bringing back many early 2000s fashion trends with their small purses, baggy pants, bright colors, and more. Claw clips and other hair clips and accessories are another example of previous fashion trends that are currently popular. Denim has taken on an entirely new look in recent years. Many people have traded in their skinny jeans for mom jeans, or jeans with rips, patches, prints, and more. Gen Z is also bringing back some fashion trends from the 80s, like bucket hats and patchwork denim.
For a large portion of Gen Z, it’s all about comfort. Hoodies, sweatshirts, and athleisure are on the rise. Everyday school attire has become more casual, with many people wearing hoodies and leggings to school. Athleisure and loungewear are no longer meant for going to the gym or lounging around the house-they have now become typical everyday fashion.
But for Gen Z, it’s not all about the appearance aspect of fashion. They are also known for buying from and promoting brands that are environmentally friendly and sustainable and brands that sell unisex clothing.
While some people may have mixed feelings about the latest fashion, Gen Z has taken on more of an “I’ll wear what I want” attitude. Comfort and confidence are main contributing factors to the latest trends. The moral of the story-It’s not all about being a trendsetter or going along with the latest fashion. It’s about wearing what makes you feel confident and happy.
