(FUN FACT! I was born on Oiche Shamhna, aka Halloween! It first began on November 1st, not
the 31st of October!)
Halloween is the spooky celebration that first originated in ancient Celtic times and was stolen
through the colonization of the Romans and the removal of all religions that were not consistent
with Jesus Christ the Redeemer. The holiday, better known as Oiche Shamhna, was a celebration
to ward off ghosts, harmful spirits, and demons to protect the people they loved and cared for. In
some ancient texts, it is also said that the village people would light candles along with a massive
bonfire, there, they would mark the end of the harvest year which then began the preparation for
winter. The Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the
worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated
Shamhna, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. They would dance
till dawn, celebrating with food and music. It is believed that many would dance with their
family members who had passed on, a similar trait in the Hispanic celebration known as The Day
of The Dead; Pope Gregory III designed November 1st, which was the original day of Oiche
Shamhna or Halloween in simpler terms, as the rememorating of all the saints at that time. Thus,
erasing all proper history of the creators of Halloween, millions forget who they were, but many
still do.
Halloween has become a staple tradition in America, many horrifying costumes are just for scare
but many forget that those said spooky costumes were similarly worn by humans 3,000 years
ago. Some dress as devils or angels, even historical people such as Marie Antoinette or Jeanne
d’Arc for remembrance. But you are not the only ones looking for the best costume and when the
said spooky day is inching closer by the second, there’s data to help you figure it out. Sites such
as TikTok, Instagram, and even Twitter share thousands of ideas every single day, the most
popular are from movies, TV shows, and even video games such as Tomb Raider or Life is
Strange. The first and most popular costume, labeled number one in the New York Times, is
from the movie Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice, a movie from the 80’s that regained popularity via a
powerful source called the internet, has been flooded through the TikTok app. Some are even
strange and cooky makeup looks like the Beetlejuice lips, which is where someone was to apply
green lipstick then you would brush on a black eyeshadow whilst pursing their lips. This look
creates a strange, creased lip that is extremely popular amongst celebrities and influencers.
Watch out! The Princess of Genovia, coming right through! Hundreds have recreated this iconic
glam look from The Princess Diaries; simple yet elegant, it consists of a beautiful white dress
and tiara which is paired with sleek white heels even Heidi Klum would be jealous of. Speaking

Miss Statue has been considered one of the best costumes to be worn during Halloween mostly
due to her incredible back story, she has been worn for over thirty years! The queer queen

My Karma whilst wearing the costume, causing it to spark once more among the public. As we
head to Jennifers body, we all know you either had a massive crush on Megan Fox who played
the iconic role of Jennifer, or you just liked the movie. Could be both, but we all know Megan
stunned the audience with her role. Jennifer’s Body is a movie that is both iconic and incredibly
timeless, in both acting and visual representation. Her buyable prom dress is a feminine look of
tattered fabric and fake blood, giving a complete visual of what Jennifer dressed in.
