Over the recent years more and more people have changed from buying naturally farmed christmas trees to artificial trees. There are many reasons to get either tree. 

For the natural trees you get the natural pine smell. Many people like how this smell makes their home feel around the holidays. The purchase of natural trees also helps many local farmers. Many people also buy these trees because it is a tradition that they have done for many generations. 

Some disadvantages of the natural tree is the cost because they have gotten more expensive over time. There are also a lot of leaves that can fall from the tree leading to a lot of sweeping of the leaves. The trees can only stay up for a short amount of time before they brown and go bad. 

The artificial tree has advantages like how there are no leaves that fall which needs less cleaning. The leaves do not brown so people that like to leave their trees up can set them up earlier and take them down later. They are also a one time purchase with adjustable lights which after a year or 2 is cheaper than buying different natural trees. 

There is no difference between the 2 trees when decorated with ornaments, toppers, and lights other than how many artificial trees already come with lights. Some people like the options of colored leaves or prefer the look of natural trees.
