We are now in the second semester of the school year. For us seniors that means we are halfway to graduation. Many of us have already gotten into college or already have a plan for what kind of career we will do after graduation. With that comes a loss of motivation for a lot of seniors. This is senioritis, a term coined in the early 1900s. The problem with senioritis is it leads to laziness and slows productivity, leading to problems in college. The other big issue is that college admissions look at senior grades and rescind admissions more than people think. To prevent senioritis from destroying your senior year and ruining your chances at future success, here are just 5 ways to overcome senioritis or even stop it before it hits you.
- Setting Goals- It is important to have an achievable goal. Whether that is getting big scholarships or just making it to graduation, make sure you set that goal and make a plan on how to achieve it.
- Be Organized- Use your resources to organize your workload. Procrastinating will only hurt you so make sure you stay on task and don’t get behind on work
- Have A Support System- It is very important to surround yourself with people with similar goals who will motivate and push you.
- Take Breaks- Don’t overwork yourself and make sure you take time out for things you enjoy.
- Don’t Be Too Hard On Yourself- Always be proud of yourself, every goal takes a lot of time and work to achieve. Things won’t go exactly as planned but just stay on track and do your best.
Keep pushing Seniors, you got this!
