After 57 Years, A New Gym Floor Has Been Built
Have you seen the new gymnasium floor at Page? If not, be sure to check it out! The flooring before was the original floor from when Page High School was built in 1958! The project was started in May of 2015 and was finished on September 16th, 2015. Rusty Lee says, “It took too long to finish, but many problems were found when we pulled up the old floor. We wanted to fix every problem for our new start of the art floor!” It cost around $200,000 for the new flooring and was funded by Guilford County Schools. The pirate on the old gym floor was cut out and will be hung up in the gym. The rest of the gym floor was cut in small pieces and will be given to Page Pirate Alumni Athletes. If any pieces are left, they will be sold. Two pieces were also put in a shadow box and one will be given to Mac Morris, who the gym is named after, and one will be given to Donny Stowe, a Page Alumni who designed the Pirate on the gym floor and is now the ticket seller at Page games. The new gym floor also has other changes, such as different colored lines to tell the difference between the volleyball court and the basketball court. The new gym floor is looking great as ever!
