Congratulations to the Page Alumni and Friends Association on 11 successful years of existence. If you have recently looked around Page, you can see that along of things are improving. You may have noticed the courtyard in between the offices and classrooms that has been renamed the “Shipyard”. It used to be a dead space with no purpose, but thanks to the Page Alumni & Friends Association, it is now an additional lunch area. The Shipyard is not the only project that PAFA has done for us in the 11 years they have been making Page a better place.

Although there are hundreds of active members in the association, Mrs. Susan Tysinger leads up the organization. She not only organizes, along with her board of directors, all the meetings and functions, she also is the editor for the bi-annual newsletter that gets mailed out to current members of the PAFA. She started the association in 2006 and since then has raised over $200,000 for capital improvements for our school, not including scholarships. When we talked to Mrs. Tysinger, she said that her favorite project was the Shipyard. The new and updated teachers lounge was a close second. Just this past summer, a parent came to the association with the idea of making the teacher lounge a more comfortable place for our wonderful teachers.
Currently, the Page Alumni and Friends Association is working on recovering 100 chairs in the media center. Each chair is $100 to recover and they have currently raised enough money for 72 chairs!! You can still look on their website for more information if you are interested in helping updating the Media Center.
The most recent class reunion, which the PAFA helps create and organize, the class of 1006 raised over $1,000 to donate to Page Alumni and Friends. Seniors, don’t forget, you become alumni next year and it will not be too early to join Page Alumni and Friends Association to help your Pirates.
