Scientists Film Deepest Ever Fish on Seabed off Japan: As part of a 10 year study, scientists are filming off of the deepest trenches of Japan into the fish populations. Reports from two months ago have found many species in parts of the trench varying in depth. In the Izu-Ogasawara trench, footage showed a species of snailfish. Many clips showed species that haven’t been classified or discovered. Another clip shot between 7,500 and 8,200 meters in the same trench showed a colony of fish that had translucent bodies, tiny eyes, and lack of a swim bladder. Many scientists would like to know more about the depths of these trenches, but the cost of technology to explore is costly.
