Wright’s mother, Katie, is struggling to find peace after the release of Potter. Katie has suffered a stroke since the conviction due to stress following the incident. “Some say I should forgive to be at peace but how can I? I am so angry. She is going to be able to watch her kids have kids and be able to touch them,” Katie Wright told CNN. She said Potter not being able to serve as a police officer again has given her a sense of peace. The family will receive a settlement payment from the government due to the loss. Katie Wright and her husband will continue to fight and push for a change.
