Hurricane Helene was one of the most destructive hurricanes that North Carolina has seen in recent years, with almost $35 billion (about $110 per person in the US) in damage already and climbing, millions of people displaced or without power.
With almost $35 Billion in damages, thousands displaced and millions without power, everyone is wondering how they can help. While it is clearly not realistic for everyone to go to the effected areas and bring food and supplies, there are many other ways to help the survivors of Hurricane Helene.
Donations can be taken through stores like the Salvation Army Stores, and while many think sending supplies is beneficial, it can cause a logistical nightmare when it comes to relief organizations trying to sort all of it, which means that donating money can be the most beneficial to the organizations. If you would like to help, you can donate online to American Red Cross (Linked at the bottom). The State of North Carolina has also formed its own charity to help, the Disaster Relief Fund.
You can also donate to independent organizations, such as Elon University, to help with students who have been affected by the storm, though independent organizations can have smaller ranges of who they can help and how much outreach they have.
