Last week, North Carolina issued a state-wide burn ban. According to https://www.wfmynews2.com/article/news/local/burn-ban-2025-rules-fines-end-date/83- 65eef094-224d-4398 aea3-d42f4ba2271c, this is NC’s first burn ban in more than 3 years due to the dry conditions that has been occurring as of lately. The NCFS (North Carolina Forest Service) say that because of the dry conditions, a fire wouldn’t be hard to spark. Phillip Jackson of the NCFS has said that this ban would take effect until the entire state, including west of NC (which is their biggest concern) sees a significant amount of rainfall. Overall, this burn ban, which is ultimately a restriction of outdoor burning, is set to deal with the recent increased risk of fire in NC. This means no campfires, no burn barrels, no fire pits, no trash burning, and no open burning!! If you so happen to have a burn permit, it’s said that it is cancelled until further notice of the ban being lifted.
