Remember when North Carolina was on a burn ban? Hmm, well what’s going on with this since we’ve had a bit of rain recently here in Greensboro, NC? Well, as of April 2nd, 2025, the ban has been lifted! Open fires can now be permitted and available for anyone, and we can have those infamous campfires and bonfires. In order to be able to lift this ban, we had to see a ‘’significant amount of rain” and Wilkes County reportedly saw 0.17 inches of rain on March 31st, with that ‘’significant amount of rain’’ occurring the next day. Other counties have had that same significant rain which made it possible for WCNC to lift the ban on open fire. It’s said that since the ban was issued, there’s been a real improvement of wildlife, it seems as if the ban was truly effective. Don’t be too risky now, while yes, the ban has been lifted, officials advise us to exercise some caution when burning debris and to BE CAREFUL.
