Pirates Suffer First Loss of Season
Before last Friday, Page Varsity football was off to a great start to the season, going 5-0 and solidifying ourselves as a top team in the state. The Pirates have blown out almost every team that they have played and have looked dominant in every game they played, barring our most recent loss to East Forsyth. East Forsyth is the number one ranked team in the region and would be a tough opponent for just about any team in the state. There was some controversy surrounding the final few plays as star receiver Diondre Overton caught a touchdown in the final minute, but the play was called out of bounds and Page lost the game. On the bright side, Quarterback Will Jones has been excellent so far this season, and he has developed a great rapport with all of his receiving corps. If Jones and Overton can keep up their play and the rest of the team stays strong and plays together; this unit is one with state championship potential, and it will be exciting to watch this team develops as the season progresses.
