To cap off a great season, Ian Shanklin placed 5th at the NCHSAA State Championships. After such a dominant season of running, the cross country team is now seen as one of the strongest teams in the county. The Pirates have a positive outlook for next year’s season, with many strong runners returning. Among those are Stuart Coates, a junior whose strong running advanced him to States and Rebecca Hunt, also a junior, a dominant runner who looks to improve and lead her team to yet another successful season in 2017.
