The Page pirates swim team came back with not just one but two wins just before the thanksgiving break. The first triumph was against the Southwest cowboys with a score for the boys of 133-Page, to 87-Southwest and for the girls, 203-Page, to 69-Southwest. That following Monday they came home with yet another victory against the Ragsdale Tiger’s with a score for the boys of 166-Page to 95-Ragsdale and for the girls, 197-Page to 76-Ragsdale.
The team pulled through on both meets with many swimmers swimming their personal best times. Sophomore, Avery Cox, stated, “I think it was a great start to this season and much better than last year.” Many swimmers talked about how they feel the energy at the meets is higher and more enthusiastic than previous years. When I asked Sophomore, Matias Christianson if he was expecting to win the meets, he responded, “Yea I think Page has a pretty good swim team and one that is much bigger than some schools teams in the district.” The team and the coaches were all very excited about such a strong start to the season!
Not only did the swimmers get a kick out of the meet-get it-but the spectators seemed to be enjoying themselves too. Some members from the team were discussing how these are some of the fullest bleachers they’ve seen at the Page Swim meets.
What a great start to the season Page Pirates! Keep up the great work! Remember to come out and support your fellow pirates at Smith high school! We know no one likes the pool there, but you can deal with cockroaches and hot air for 2 hours if it means watching your friends swim! Meet schedule is up on the Page website!
