As we all know, Whirlies are our rival school Grimsley’s mascot, but a question I think we’ve all asked is: How did our rivalry start? And how did it get so intense? These answers are from our very own head coach: Caylon Hann.
Q:When did the rivalry start?
A:I’m assuming when Greensboro high school split in early years and divided between the Grimsley and Page High School.
Q:How did it get so intense
A: North Carolina is known for its intense rivalries . Also in recent years Grimsley has been a winning program making the rivalry more intense!
Q:What are your thoughts on rivalries?
A: They are great for sports.
Q: Do you think the rivalry should end?
A: Of course not! We have a total of five state championships. On the road to 6. Go Pirates!!!
Q: Do you think we’ll win our next game in Oct. 25th?
A: Heck yeah we will!
