Bethpage Black in New York was loud, rowdy, and packed with American fans but it was Team Europe who came out on top, defeating the United States 15–13 to retain the Ryder Cup.
The U.S. mounted a fierce comeback in Sunday’s singles, but Europe refused to crack. Shane Lowry delivered a clutch half-point on the 18th hole, and minutes later Tyrrell Hatton tied with Collin Morikawa to push Europe over the finish line.
Winning on U.S. soil is notoriously difficult, which made Europe’s win much more significant. The
Americans will now have to wait until 2027 in Ireland for their chance at redemption.
Final Score: Europe 15, United States 13.
