As Page students are aware, renovations to our school’s library space have been well past due and are currently being undertaken. I have gathered information about the upcoming changes. (Special thanks to Mrs. Sally DeLellis for the included quotes.) Listed below are the answers to questions you may have about the new updates:
1. What prompted the renovations?
“The media center had the look of a more dated school library, reminiscent of the time it was constructed- a more modern layout was well overdue.”
2. What do you hope to accomplish with the renovations?
“A more open, inviting, and modern space; to increase visibility by removing tall shelving for safety reasons.”
3. How will the new changes to the media center benefit the student population at Page?
“The media center will offer students an even wider selection of reading materials, continued technology support, as well as some opportunities for screen-free activities during appropriate times such as maker-type activities, chess, etc.”
4. Was there any special funding to help support the renovations?
“Both Donors Choose and PTSA mini-grant funding helped with the project.”
5. Will there be any new sections in the media center?
“The project is still ongoing, but there will be some new features and further rearranging.”
6. Are we getting any new technology or books to add to the library?
“We will be getting a sizable order of fiction and non-fiction books before the end of the year with ESSER [pandemic-related] funding.”
WRAP-UP: If you or someone you know is interested or has any questions or concerns about the library renovations, feel free to contact Mrs. DeLellis in the media center.
