On Wednesday night, I went to the last choir concert of the school year, and it was a great experience. The students were very well-spoken and told the crowd about the history of some of the music, but it wasn’t only their talking voices that impressed me. They were all great singers and did a great job of harmonizing and singing songs like ‘We Are the World’, ‘Jessie’s Girl’, and various other popular songs. It wasn’t only the singing that impressed me, but also the crowd engagement they were able to get. All of the parents were on their feet and cheering. It isn’t hard to tell that Ms. French is not only a great teacher but also cares very much about her students. One thing she was very excited about was the opportunity to involve Modern Band for the first year ever, and they did a great job, playing November Rain by Guns N’ Roses. To finish off the show, Ms. French honored the seniors with a rose and a special song the choir sang, and a sing-off between the crowd and the choir. We were singing Livin’ On a Prayer while the Choir sang Don’t Stop Believing. I think the crowd won based on enthusiasm but I’d say the Choir won on the skill end of things. It was overall a great experience, and I encourage everyone to go to one of the Choir concerts next year.
