Editorial: Giving During The Holidays

When I was younger during the holiday season, I remember being so excited to wake up on Christmas morning to gifts that I was given. Since I have gotten older, the meaning of the holidays has changed. In today’s society, people are worried about not being offensive and being politically correct, which is still something that is important. However, I have learned over the years that thinking of others during this time is the most important thing. The holidays are about giving, whether that is your time or material items, this is something that I encourage people to learn. My favorite part of the holidays is just being thoughtful towards others, and I like that others are thoughtful towards me. You have to think about others so that you can give them something special, whether that is your time or a material item. My advice for giving to family and friends during this season is to think not about the money and how much you are spending on a particular person, but more so think about them as a person and what you think that they might like to have, whether that is material or nonmaterial. This also does not just have to be material items, but it could just be as simple as spending more time with your friends and family. I would like to encourage everyone out there to think of your loved ones and give this season.
