Alma Pinnix Traffic Jam

Alma+Pinnix+Traffic+Jam

Its 8:49 and you’re sitting in traffic on Alma Pinnix. A simple 6 minute car ride turned into a tardy and lunch detention. You thought you had enough time, you even left your house 15 minutes ago but no one will let the buses pull into the bus parking lot, people are stopping in the middle of the road and dropping their kids off, cars won’t pull to the left while turning and senior lot is flooded with moms trying to do carpool. These are just a few of the things that students struggle with on a daily basis when driving to school. The congestion and traffic caused by the lack of structure in the system puts an enormous amount of stress on student’s backs to get into school on time. Personally, I have noticed that the buses cause a lot of the back up; there is simply too much going on in one area. The bus parking lot should not exit out onto Alma Pinnix I believe the easy solution to that issue is to build an exit onto Cone. That way they can avoid the parents and students coming and going on Alma Pinnix and traffic flow will be made easier. As for the parents who don’t know where exactly to drop their kids off, if we place a police officer out on the street, that would make directing the traffic a lot easier and prevent some of the reckless driving some students do to get around these parents. Personally, I have seen students pop the curb and other dangerous driving to get around the cars just to get to class on time. All of these students are new drivers and should not be attempting all of these risks just to be to class on time. If something doesn’t change soon, there could possibly be a serious accident.
