Should There Be A Change In Spirit Week?

As everyone who attends Page High School knows about spirit week knows what common themes we have for each week. For the past several years the same themes occur every week, such as Sports Day, Decade Day, Character Day, Grimsley Grit Day, and Pirate Pride Day. Many people participate within the spirit week because it leads up to the biggest rival game of the year, the Page vs Grimsley game.

Some believe that the Spirit Week is fun and eventful and they look forward to it every year. It helps people get out of their comfort zone and they can wear things they typically wouldn’t wear. “I enjoy dressing for Spirit Week because it adds excitement to the year and makes the class work more bearable,” said Sarah Bullock, a junior at Page High.

I personally believe that Spirit Week is exciting and eventful, but I do believe that we should change the themes. I think we should maintain Grimsley Grit because it is very fun and we also do it as a competition with Grimsley due to them participating in Page Prep. I believe although these themes are fun, for the other three days of the week should be changed. I believe it would be fun to do an opposite day or have a day where the grades dres according to their age (such as seniors dress as senior citizens, freshman as babies etc.) instead of the common days we have every single year.

Overall, I think Spirit Week is the best part of the school year due to how different everyone looks and how everyone can express themselves in different ways, but I feel as if a variety of themes would make the week more diverse due to the variety of daily themes.
