Robertson’s Reportings: 10/4 – 10/10

Welcome to another week of Robertson’s Reportings! Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders has been released from the hospital after suffering from a heart attack. As the oldest candidate running in this election, Sanders supporters are now in fear of potential health issues that could occur while he is in office. In an attempt to assuage these fears and get back his support, Sanders stated, “I am feeling really good. I’m getting stronger every day. We’re going to be out there on the campaign trail.”

Turkey has launched a military assault on Syria and has already killed at least 100 people from the military of the Middle Eastern country. These attacks come merely days after President Trump pulled troops from Syria, a promise from his campaign, so the United States’ position has been widely debated about whether action should be taken or not. Thousands of Syrian citizens have been forced to evacuate after warplanes and artillery threatened the border, so many people are anxiously awaiting the end of these attacks.

On Wednesday, October 9, a gunman opened fire outside a German synagogue, killing at least two. The gunman was taken into custody of German officers, and he confessed to the attack being driven by anti-Semetic beliefs. The shooting took place on Yom Kippur, a Jewish holiday. Nearly 100 people were worshipping in the synagogue when the gunman unsuccessfully attempted to enter. After not being able to get in, he fired and killed multiple bystanders.

In Los Angeles, wildfires have erupted, and over 4,000 acres of land have been affected. At least 100,000 people have been forced to evacuate. The low humidity and high winds caused the fire to burgeon in less than half a day, on Thursday night. Ten schools have already been forced to close, including California State University Northridge, major highways have been shut down, and thousands of firefighters who hope to get the disaster under control as quickly as possible have responded to the scene.

NASA has recently revealed X-planes, experimental aircrafts, to aid in the development of newer and more efficient technologies and ideas. A manager of the project stated, “The X-57 Mod II aircraft delivery to NASA is a significant event, marking the beginning of a new phase in this exciting electric X-plane project.” As these advancements are taking place, another side of NASA’s company has also stated that revolutionary discoveries about life on Mars will possibly be announced in the near future.
