Robertson’s Reportings: 11/27 – 12/3

Welcome to Robertson’s Reportings! The CDC announced that quarantine for a positive test can be reduced to only 10 days without symptoms. This is to encourage more people to quarantine, especially for those who cannot work from home. Vaccines for COVID-19 are also in the process of being created and will soon be distributed. Most vaccines need two doses in the span of three to four weeks. Former Presidents Bush, Clinton, and Obama made statements that they would take the vaccine while being recorded to show everyone its safety, as many people are skeptical over the new vaccine and its lack of testing.

NASA has a goal to send people to Mars in the 2030s, but Elon Musk is thinking bigger than that. He believes that humans can be on Mars only six years from now, including the nine months it takes to travel from Earth to the planet. He, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, has been working on his plans for Mars for years. In 2017, Musk proposed a plan to have one million people on Mars. In 2018, he said that there was a 70% chance that he would move to Mars but a good chance that he would die on the way there. With more advanced technology these days, he is becoming increasingly ambitious and prepared for a visit to the Red Planet.

This week, Ohio and Pennsylvania saw two feet of snow along with high winds. These conditions marked the first major storm of the season. West Virginia, Oklahoma, and other states that are close by were also hit, but these states experienced less severe weather.

Spectacular Smith, a member of the hip hop band Pretty Ricky, was arrested for allegedly punching a Disney World employee. According to the arresting officer’s report, “Smith walked past (the worker), simulated sneezing, while saying the word, ‘Coronavirus’ as he and a companion walked towards the ride. (The worker) told Smith what he said was not funny. (The worker) said Smith replied, ‘I thought it was.’” The worker then told Smith to leave the line, and at that time Smith reportedly punched the Disney cast member. Later on, Smith posted to his Instagram story: “The media will put out a one sided story even without facts, because they enjoy demonizing our culture and bring[ing] us down. It’s sad.” In October, another member of Pretty Ricky, Baby Blue, was charged with $24 million fraud and is facing federal charges. However, Smith’s investigation is ongoing.
