Miss Universe Pageant- R’Bonney Gabriel becomes the First Filipina to Win

Over the weekend, 28 year old R’Bonney Gabriel became the first Filipino-American to win the Miss Universe pageant. On Saturday night in New Orleans she was crowned the title of Miss Universe. An investigation, however, is opened as to reasons why she was sent there. Contestants say the competition was rigged, sparking questions about the results. The Miss Universe organization said in a statement: “Contestant Gabriel won fairly” and that the “investigation is still ongoing in other parts”. Gabriel said in a statement with the Washington Post:  “The current allegations are based on perception and truth. I would never enter a rigged competition”. However, many contestants from the Miss America pageant still believe that the competition was rigged and that special treatment was given to Gabriel.

Ukraine War Updates- Ukraine Helicopter Crash

On January 18, 2032 at 8:20 am, 14 people were killed in a helicopter crash in a suburb of the capital, Kyiv, according to Ukrainian emergency services. There were 25 others injured, including one child, who are being treated at a hospital. Russia has yet to comment and there is no immediate statement on the cause of the crash. Videos have been shared on social media that showed a burning building where the helicopter crashed. The Ukrainian Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyy, his deputy Yevhen Yeninand, and State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yurii Lubkovych, were among those who traveled in the helicopter. Prime Minister Shmygal said in a statement, “My sincere condolences to the families of all the victims”. An investigation for the cause of the crash is still ongoing and unknown.

Super Bowl News- Rihanna is Preforming at Super Bowl for the First Time

Rihanna drops a teaser for potential new music as the announcement of her performing during the Super Bowl halftime show gets aired. Rihanna makes a statement on instagram as she drops the first trailer of her performance which is sponsored by Apple Music. In her trailer, she alludes that she is planning to drop a new album. The teaser opens with a black screen and impatient media voices saying ““It’s been 2,190 days… It’s been over six years… Rihanna is who everybody is waiting for… The last album we got from Rihanna was ‘Anti’ in 2016”. The voices blur and the video cuts to Rihanna wearing a green fluffy jacket and walking to the camera. This trailer has left many to believe that she will be dropping a new album soon. Rihanna has been seen leaving the studio since dropping her 2016 album “Anti”. Her Super Bowl halftime performance will be on February 12th at the State Farm stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
