Cross Country Jogs to Victory

In the midst of a great season led by senior Ian Shanklin and junior Rebecca Hunt, the Pirates have jogged into victory meet after meet. Saturday, October 1^st, Shanklin achieved a 30 second personal best, from being good last season, to elite in 2016. The men proceed to roll, collecting 1^st place finishes and brushing the competition aside, while the women are on the way towards the top as well. At the Great American Race last Saturday in Cary, both teams made a name for themselves, if there was any question. Wednesday, October 5^th, the teams proved their running ability with Ellie Verchick finishing in the top of the field with the rest of our Pirates in tow at the Conference Meet at Hagan Stone Park.

The Cross Country Team’s next competition is the NC Runner Invitational Meet at Ivey Redman Park. The men’s team looks to advance their hot streak along with the women.
