After a long, exhilarating, great season the Pirates women’s tennis team ends the season with a 9-5 overall record and a 7-1 conference record. Also, congratulations ladies on clinching a share of the Metro Conference Championship, as well as taking a shot in the playoffs.

I had the honor of speaking with Head Coach Robert Hogewood on the season. Coach Hogewood says he is proud of how the team “never quit, never gave in and gave their all until the end”. Good job ladies on representing the pirates well and never giving up! The first playoff match against Myers Park HS sadly ended our season on October 25^th. Coach Hogewood says “As a coach and a team though, we wont remember this season for that final loss. We’ll remember how we stuck with each other through the ups and downs and bumps in the road, the way we bonded and came together as a team and came through when it mattered most.”

It was a pleasure following such a great team with great hearts on and off the court!
