Pirates Stumble at Women’s Golf State Championship

As winds howled in the early morning, the Page golf team stepped onto Pinehurst No. 3 golf course with high hopes for the next two days. Those spirits dropped quickly as Page began with a rocky start, and battled to keep a position in the field. With hard, fast greens the team had not played on all year, making putts and getting up and down was a major problem for all the girls. After the first day, Page finished fifth place, with Emelia Pack shooting an 82, Harper Shepherd with an 85, Tatum Neff with a 102, and a team score of 269. On day two, the girls stepped out with a vengeance, hoping to make up ground against the field, but again came up short, falling back to tied for eighth, (a team score of 256 and final total of 525) with Reagan finishing first and Pinecrest finishing second. With a season full of success, finishing the year with such a negative performance was especially devastating for the seniors, but it gives the underclassman even more motivation for next year and what the 2019 season has to offer.
