State Championship Finishes Cross Country Season Off

On November 3, teams from all over North Carolina raced to earn the title of State Champion. Our men’s team qualified for this meet because they earned fifth place in the Midwestern Regional competition. At the State Championship, Page’s team ran in the 4A Boys 5000 Meter Run Finals. Cam Milroy came in 32 with a time of 16:45.35. The other members of the team – including Ethan Long, Gabriel Warwar, Zaeeme Amin, Brian Phlegar, and Harrison McDowell – also ran hard at the meet. As a whole, our men’s team earned sixteenth out of eighteen teams across North Carolina. The average of the team was 17:51.47. Although the team did not place lower, Amin, a freshman, ran his personal best with a time of 18:36.71.

This season Cam Milroy, Kevin Salinas, Teyanni Ashley, and Jewel Jenkins ran the season bests here at Page. Cam Milroy ran a 16:16.28 5K at the Guilford County Championship held on August 18. On September 7, Salinas ran a 14:07.83 two mile race at the Friday Night Lights XC Festival. In the women’s races, Teyanni Ashley had the best Pirates’ 5K time of the year at the 35th Annual Greensboro XC Invitational when she ran the race in 21:35.83. Jewel Jenkins, a sophomore, had the best female two mile time of the Page High School women’s cross country season with a time of 18:53.09. As the season comes to an end, we will have to say goodbye to many senior runners. Luckily, there is still more running to come since indoor track began at the end of October!
