Women’s Golf Acing Their First Matches

The Page Women’s Varsity Golf Team has gotten off to a strong start. With only four players, the team is composed mainly of upperclassmen. Harper Shepherd, Kate Hunter, and Meredith Fennie are all juniors, and Meera Mehta is the only sophomore. The team, coached by Mr. McGehee, had their first match on August 20. Unfortunately, they lost to Northern by 10 strokes. The place each school earns depends on the top three overall scores within their team. A week later, in their next match, Page dominated Southwest.

On September 3, Page played in their first Metro 4A Conference of the season. There is a series of conference matches that are played against four other schools: Northwest, Ragsdale, Grimsley, and High Point Central. In the first match of this series, Page took first place with Northwest and Ragsdale following behind. Harper Shepherd got first place in the entire nine hole match with a score of 37. In another conference match on September 9, Page got first place again with Shepherd hitting a 39 and beating every opponent.

Page had another win on September 10 against East Forsyth. Shepherd medaled again after shooting a 38. Trailing behind Northwest, Page took second place in their September 16 conference match. All of the matches so far have been nine holes, but later ones will be on a full course. Be sure to support the team and look out for updates that will be posted shortly!
