Women’s Basketball Going for the Rebound

With a 4-14 record, the women’s basketball team is hoping to have a better end quarter of the season. The varsity team lost to Eastern Guilford on January 10 by only one point. The score was 45-44. Northwest Guilford also beat the team, scoring 66 points when Page only scored 20. The next two games were wins. Against High Point Central, Page scored 39 points, over two times their opponent’s score. Then, in a close game against Grimsley, the Pirates came out as winners. Their most recent game was on January 28 at Ragsdale. The game was a tough defeat, but Junior Reagan Maynard was named Player of the Game for the eighth time in a row. Maynard averages 15.3 points per game.

The junior varsity team has had only a few games, but they have also lost the majority. With a roster of only nine players that are all underclassmen, the season has been tough. The junior varsity team will be playing their next game on February 4 at 5:00. This game will be played at Northwest Guilford. Varsity will be playing Montgomery Central on February 3 at 6:30 in Troy, NC. The teams are fighting for more victories as the season begins to come to an end.
