Athlete of December

Hello Pirates! Another athlete that’s gone above and beyond in their sport represents Page: Allie Kinlaw, an 11th grade Varsity Cross Country and Track Athlete, demonstrates her incredible talent with humility and hard work.

During her upbringing, Allie explored various sports, from basketball to soccer, but it was running that truly captured her interest. Introduced to local 5k races at the age of 6 by her family, she developed a deep affection for the sport!

While running held a place in her heart from an early age, it didn’t become serious until COVID hit, which unfortunately led to the end of her soccer season. Undeterred by this setback, Allie redirected her focus towards competitive running, committing herself to the sport.

Recently, Allie’s dedication paid off as she secured first place in the 1600-meter race for her first indoor season meet, achieving a personal record that highlights her commitment to excellence. This journey showcases her determination, transitioning from a casual runner to a dedicated athlete, proving that challenges can be opportunities for growth.

Allie’s love for running is more than the physical activity itself; it allows the connections to foster. It’s not merely about personal accomplishments; it’s about the camaraderie, the friendships forged, and the excitement of meeting new individuals on the track! The shared experience of running with friends is an element that enhances her love for the sport.

However, running for Allie is more than just for fun; it allows her to receive other future opportunities. Currently navigating the college recruitment process, Allie hopes to run in college, continuing her journey

Looking ahead, Allie has set ambitious goals. The idea of Nationals in Boston, Massachusetts, in March is closing in, presenting an exciting opportunity. Additionally, she aims to achieve personal bests in the mile and 2-mile events, guide her team to success at the state level, and have a great indoor and outdoor season. Allie’s aim extends beyond the finish line, she also does well in the classroom.

Her advice to all student-athletes is to stay motivated!  Having to balance being a student and athlete is tough but always remember the student goes first. Doing the extra work to get yourself ahead is 100% worth it.

Using the inspiration of her coaches and friends to continuously push her to do her best, Allie has succeeded and pushed through obstacles in her way. Great job Allie! We can’t wait to see what you do next.
