Each student in the Fundamentals of Nursing class takes a three hour certification class for screening vision. The government mandates that every child in grades 1^st, 4^th, and 7^th must have their vision checked. Guilford County Schools help the Department of Health school nurses vision screen the children. Page is one of the Guilford County Schools that volunteer to help. The Page students are able to help because they have been trained and certified. When a school nurse requests help, these students go to help. These students who volunteer earn service learning hours by helping with this. They also receive great learning experience. This year Page students have completed around 1500 vision screens.
