Inside The Classroom

Pages By Page took a look inside Mrs. Daughtry’s second period IB psychology class. Her students are currently studying Human Relationships and they are focusing on a concept called Altruism. Altruism is the act of helping behavior in which there may be no reward or even a cost to the individual. They watched a film called “Pay It Forward” about a young boy whose class assignment is to make the world a better place. He created a plan in which he would help out three people and then those three people would help three more people and so on. In the movie, the Pay It Forward plan became a movement nationwide. Mrs. Daughtry’s students coordinated their own act of altruism and put together a basket of snacks and gift cards to give to Page High Schools janitor staff as a thank you for all they do. They were given the basket on Wednesday March 3rd. Mrs. Daughtry tells us “My hope was that our altruistic behavior made their day a little better”. That being said, her class now challenges YOU to pay it forward and brighten someone’s day as well.
