October Students of the Month

maeveoctstu jack-mThe Students of the Month for October 2016 are Maeve Riney and Jack Maginne

Maeve is a part the IB program as well as a number of extra-curricular activities. We asked her how she handled being apart of the IB program and being a Playmakers officer, she responded, “I section out my work. I set aside a certain amount of my responsibilities for each day of the week.” We then asked her if she had a job and Maeve responded, “I babysit, occasionally.” After that, we asked her if she participated in any volunteer work. Maeve began to tell us how she volunteers with Mrs. McGehee and organizes and helps out with the IB program. We then asked her if she was apart of any other clubs, other than Playmakers. Maeve said, “I am apart of the International Spanish Society, National English Society, and National Honors Society. To conclude our interview, we asked Maeve what are her plans after college. Her response was, “I hope to go to North Carolina State University to earn a degree in food chemistry.” A big congratulation on all of your achievements! Best of luck to you, Maeve!

Like Maeve, Jack is another member of the Page IB program. Jack is starting player for both varsity soccer as the goalie and varsity lacrosse. To begin our interview, we asked Jack how he handled school along with being a starting member on several athletic teams? Jack responded with, “We’ll I’ve never been great with time management, so that definitely leads to some late nights, but over the last four years I have started to find more of balance between the two, which I think is important. After that we asked him if he currently has a job, he said, “I do not have a real job. I make money mostly through doing yard work and manual labor, as well as selling things on the internet. In the winter I work at the Christmas tree farm.” Then we asked Jack if he participates in any volunteer work. Jack replied with, “I do not have a program that I specifically volunteer through, but I do spend a large portion of my time volunteering. One of my favorite volunteering activities is teaching inner city kids in Greensboro how to play lacrosse. This is a program run through TYLA, and I really enjoy it.” After that, we then asked Jack if he was apart of any clubs, he said, “I am apart of a few clubs at Page, including Young Life, fishing club, athletes in action, and the athletic advisory council.” Our last question for Jack was what are your plans for after high school. Jack responded with, “After high school I plan to attend college, although I am not sure where yet. I’d love to major in business, but I do not have a specific career path I am interested in following at this time.” Congratulations Jack, we hope to see more of your many accomplishments! Good luck to you!
