January Students of the Month

The female student for the month of January is Lucy Pearce. Lucy Pearce was recently offered a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania for swimming and is a part of the IB Program. Along with swimming year round and school, Lucy said, “It is definitely hard to balance school with swimming, but over the years I have become much better at time management. There are of course late nights, but that is the case with any high school student. In addition, the IB Program adds another level of difficulty to my academics, however, all of my teachers are very supportive in making the process much easier!” Lucy does not have a job, however she manages to stay busy with volunteer work. She said, “This past summer I volunteered as a camp counselor at a youth outreach camp. I have also gone on a mission trip to Glory Ridge, and every Friday I go to Irving Park through a program called Breakfast Buddies. I have also been able to participate in various volunteer opportunities through my memberships at clubs at Page.” Lucy is a part of Key Club, Service Learning Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Latin Club, and National Honors Society. Lucy has big plans for the future. She says she plans to attend “The University of Pennsylvania to swim after I graduate high school.” Best of luck, Lucy!!

The male student of the month of January is Micah Gafford. By being on the varsity football team and an honor roll student, Micah said, “Handling school along with football was actually pretty tough. It all came down to being able to concentrate in class and at the same time trying to get as much done in class as possible. There isn’t much time to play around or anything, it’s mostly just work.” Micah does not have a job either, but he makes sure to give back to the community. Micah gives back to the community by “volunteering at my church along with being in a mentoring program at Joyner Elementary School.” Micah is also involved with the Page community by being apart of the International Club and the National Honor Society. Micah says that, “after high school I plan to go to college and major in physics, however I am unsure of where I plan to go as of right now.” We wish you luck on all of your endeavors, Micah!
