Club Corner: National Art Honor Society

A great club for students that are interested in art, and want to strengthen your resume is National Art Honor Society. The club is run by Ms. Davis and Mrs. Scarbro, both art teachers here at Page. Lou Wright (senior) is the president of this club. I asked her what she thinks is best about National Art Honor Society, and she responded, “I think National Art Honor Society does a great job of beautifying the community, both literally and figuratively. It can be seen on the murals around Page or when we all come together to support Light the Night, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma society’s annual walk.” To meet the requirements to be eligible include having taken at least 1 art class, maintain at least a B average in all classes, and you must complete 30 hours of service by graduation to receive a cord. However, you don’t necessarily have to currently be in art to be in the Honor Society as long as you have taken at least 1 art class in the past. The meetings are once a month, and at these meetings the members discuss future service projects they could accomplish. For example, last year the National Art Honor Society designed the background for the Big Hair Ball, and made sculptures out of water bottles for the airport. This club is an awesome way to get service hours, strengthen your resume, and also strengthen art skills.
