London, Paris, and Madrid Trip Open to All Pirates

In 2020, Worldstrides, a travel organizational company for schools, will be hosting a spring break trip to London, Paris, and Madrid for nine days! It is open to any student here at Page including siblings or other family members who want to join the trip. On October 4th there was an interest meeting held in Madam Brozzi’s room. There was also a meeting with the same information on the 9th for students and parents that could not make it the previous Thursday. If you were unable to attend either meeting, you can visit Room 200 and you will be given an information packet.

You may think that a trip to three different countries is very expensive, as it is, but before you depart you only have to have paid 40% and can pay the rest in the future. Also, if you sign up before October 11th of this year $500 will be deducted from your total. If you miss this deadline, another deadline will be put into place with a slightly smaller amount deducted. Along with this, anyone can apply for financial aid if necessary. The students going will also host two fundraisers, one this year and one next year, to raise money that will be put towards the trip too. Once the school figures out who will be going, they will get together to plan each fundraiser.

The group will land in London to spend time visiting many historical sites such as Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. Then, on the fourth day everyone will travel to Paris where they will visit the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. On the sixth day, the group will travel to Madrid to visit the Reina Sofia Museum along with many more beautiful places. Worldstrides provides a hands on activity for each country, such as painting, cooking, and dancing so that students do not just look at museums all day but get the real experience while learning about each culture! These activities are something Worldstrides calls LEAP, Learning through Exploration and Active Participation. Along with these hands on activities, this trip is perfect for students in French and Spanish, because the team will directly encounter French and Spanish speaking locals. Anyone, however, is welcome to travel and may even pick up a couple of words while in the three countries.

Safety and accommodations are both very important to look at when deciding whether to spend the money or not. Luckily, Worldstrides provides a safe and fun experience to all students. A tour guide travels with you to lead you through the winding paths and talk to you about the landmarks that surround you. Also, Worldstrides provides basic insurance in case of an emergency. You are given two meals plus a three course dinner daily and the hotels have at least three stars. Worldstrides offers high school students three college preparatory credits, and a Europe trip with your high school would look great on a college application. If you choose to go on this trip, make sure you do not forget your passport when packing your bags! Bon voyage!
