What is TWIRP? Twirp is a dance where the girl asks out the guy and she’s requested to pay, whereas guys are typically expected to pay on dates. Twirp originated from the Sadie Hawkins dance- a party/event for high schoolers or college students, to which each girl ushers the boy of her choice, or invites him to escort her.

Some people may think it’s not okay for the lady to pay, while others agree that it’s okay for the lady to pay. In reality, it’s a mutual decision. Whoever wants to pay for a nice dinner or date has the right to do so. I personally believe that if the male asks the female on a date, he should pay for that date, and vise versa- if the female asks the male on a date, then she shall pay. Being a man doesn’t always mean they have to pay- it’s okay for their significant other to take care of some things as well.

This dance is around Valentine’s Day, where romance is in the air and everything is planned out perfectly. It’s very special and your date doesn’t want to mess anything up. The Twirp dance is all about having fun, enjoying the time you have with your partner, etc. It’s definitely a night to remember. So ladies, don’t be afraid to ask out a guy.
