This week’s featured Page athlete is Aaron Jackson of the Pirate track and field team. Aaron was chosen because of his exceptional contribution to Team Voyage events, coupled with his participation in track. When asked what he does to prepare for track and field meets, Aaron says “I just put my headphones on and tune in- gets me right and prepares me for the competition ahead.” As for an individual’s possible effect on the team, Aaron says “If you’re one of the top athletes, it’s possible for your personal times to affect a team’s placement- whether elevating or decreasing it.” Aaron concludes by sharing an important attribute he feels is crucial to success for individuals in track and field. He says “It’s definitely mentality. The preparation before meets and constant discipline and motivation isn’t talked about much in track and field, so definitely mentality.” These are wise words from our athlete of the week, Aaron Jackson.
